At Ebony Horse Club, our mission is to use horses to raise education, life skills, wellbeing, and aspirations among young people from disadvantaged communities in Lambeth, South London. More than just a riding school, we provide life-changing opportunities that help young riders develop confidence, teamwork, and resilience.
We believe that opportunity should not be limited by postcode. That’s why in 2011, we built our centre in the heart of Brixton, just a short distance from the vibrant Electric Avenue and Brixton Market. Nestled between tower blocks and overground lines, our stables offer a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment for young people.
Each day at Ebony Horse Club is a hive of activity—riding lessons, yard clean-ups, grooming, feeding, and building lifelong friendships. However, it’s our unique youth-focused programmes that truly set us apart. Through the support of our youth workers, volunteers, and partners, we provide incredible opportunities such as:
Beyond riding, we focus on developing key life skills, such as communication, empathy, and responsibility, ensuring our members benefit in every aspect of their lives.

Our core mission is to improve the lives of young people in South London by providing access to horses, riding, and structured personal development. Many of our members face challenging life circumstances, and we focus on supporting those most in need. Our key projects include:
We offer weekly riding lessons for over 95 regular members, ranging from complete beginners to competition riders. Some members even hack out through the streets of Brixton!
A structured young volunteer programme for 30 dedicated members, providing hands-on equestrian industry experience—from mucking out to assisting beginner riders in lessons.
We organise day trips and residential stays outside London, whether horse-related, educational, or simply a chance to unwind in a peaceful environment.
A specialist initiative providing group riding sessions for local schools and youth groups, reaching 30 children per week, many of whom have never interacted with horses before.
Dedicated youth work support, including one-on-one mentoring, ensuring that young people facing adversity receive the personal and emotional support they need.
Horse riding is not only an incredible physical activity but also a proven tool for personal growth, enhancing confidence, teamwork, and resilience. At Ebony Horse Club, we go beyond traditional riding lessons—helping young people thrive both in the saddle and in life.
If you’re a local resident looking to make a difference or a business seeking to create real impact, we invite you to join us in transforming lives.
